The Lamentations series reflects my profound admiration and respect for nature. While the forests of the American Northeast maintain a relatively sustainable level of logging, vast tropical and boreal forests are vanishing at an alarming rate. Compounding this loss, climate change brings devastating floods and wildfires, further endangering these ecosystems.

The Lamentations sculptures serve as an elegy for this loss. They draw a visual and thematic parallel between the tears of martyrdom, loss, and compassion depicted in Christian Renaissance imagery and the droplets of sap from a resinous tree after being hand-trimmed.

Through these works, I seek to evoke an emotional response that inspires reflection on the intricate interplay between humans and the non-human world. They explore the fragile balance between creation and destruction, urging a collective reckoning with our shared responsibility toward each other and the environment.
