Pastels
All the drawings in these series consist of rough and repetitive application of dry pigments on the paper. At times, I incorporate cutouts from comic books and womenswear catalogs, stickers, thread, wax, colored pencil and graphite.
The Spyglass series is a a cosmic odyssey exploring micro and macro cosmos.
The Self drawings are fortune-telling self-portraits. Overloaded with pastel dust, I read stories through prints of my working hands.
In the Generations I slowly build up thin layers of dry pigment to convey the illusion of space and depth.
In the Mutants & Venus USA Series, the cutouts restrain the velvety, formal beauty of the gestural pastel backgrounds which in return, dignify the curtailed vernacular and often vulgar imagery of women.
The Prémices series are my first explorations using pastel, graphite and colored pencils on paper.
